Filming and TV opportunities open up with new collaboration

30 April, 2018

According to the latest government statistics, the performing arts industry generates 14% of the entire economy. That is a huge amount for a single sector to contribute. Jobs in the sector are also expanding at four times the rate of the UK workforce as a whole, as a result, there are even more opportunities opening up for performing arts graduates.

We refer to careers as though they are straight forward things. You choose a path and you follow it without deviation. If you set out to star in the West End you take the necessary steps and then that is what you do… forever!

Well sometimes this is what happens, in the 21st-century performers tend to take a different view of their lifework, over the years it may become necessary for you to widen your outlook. You will need to build your career and expand your portfolio, and this is one of the most exciting things about training in the performing arts. It will give you access to a range of opportunities.

At ICTheatre we train you with the skills necessary to develop your talent, sharpen your technique, and cultivate your entrepreneurial skills. Alongside our exciting range of extra class options, we have now partnered up with Brighton Film School alongside BIMM Brighton to offer our students an early insight into the digital culture and filming opportunities.

Reflecting on the partnership, BIMM Business Development & Creative Careers Director, Vaseema Hamilton, said: “We know that music, film, TV and digital technologies are inextricably linked and will provide students collaborative opportunities in this exciting £4BN global sector. Brighton is an ideal location to start this given its diverse creative community and digital infrastructure that can inspire students to become the next generation of creative digital professionals.”

This new partnership has already seen many of our first year training professionals take part in short films and music videos, getting a real taste of life on set and in front of the camera. Working with Brighton Film School also means we’ll be able to share resources and state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the ICTheatre learning experience for all current and future students.
