Breaking the mould in performing arts
Dare to be different. Join the ICTheatre Movement.
The Institute for Contemporary Theatre (ICTheatre) is at the vanguard of performing arts training. We bring far more than acting, contemporary dance and musical theatre training at degree and diploma level. Whatever your discipline, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from an eclectic range of extra-curricular modules and masterclasses, making your experience at ICTheatre as unique as you are. These can include circus skills, mime, burlesque dancing, parkour, stand up comedy and more.
To be successful in the creative industries, you must be industrious, imaginative and take control of your own ideas. Entrepreneurship is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to train bold, brave and brilliant performers who are breaking the mould in performing arts.
You’ll have regular access to industry advisory panels with casting agents, directors, and experts in film, TV and music who will share their insights into the entertainment industry. Meeting with these panels means we stay up to date and reactive – as the industry evolves, so do we.
With unrivalled facilities at both ICTheatre Manchester and ICTheatre Brighton – including our very own in-house theatre – ICTheatre is where dreams become reality. Our partnerships with BIMM Institute and Screen and Film School provide even more opportunities to network and develop a wide range of skills across creative industries.
Whether you want to be on stage, develop your own productions, or make a name for yourself as an industry innovator, we’ll help you find your unique flavour and support your big, bold vision at every stage of development. Your success is our business.
Our innovative diploma and undergraduate performing arts courses are developed in collaboration with some of the best educators, performers and creative professionals in the industry. With an eye on the future and a deep understanding of how the industry is evolving, we design our courses to be responsive and relevant, providing you professional performing arts training that is truly at the cutting edge.
The ICTheatre experience will prepare you for a long and sustainable career in the creative industries with the skills, knowledge and entrepreneurial savvy you’ll need to thrive.
Our faculty is a cast of diverse and highly skilled professional Dancers, Singers, Directors, Actors, Choreographers and Producers who have all enjoyed successful careers in the arts.
You’ll gain access to working professionals who provide cutting-edge insights and fantastic industry connections to support you further on your career journey.
Higher contact hours, smaller classes
Every ICTheatre Performing Arts Training Professional is the star of the show, and it’s important we’re able to give every individual the support and attention they need to thrive. Our smaller classes give you the space to nurture and develop your unique expression, and allow us to be dynamic and flexible in the extracurricular activities and masterclasses we can offer.
Our Performing Arts Degree and Extended Diploma courses are full-time, and you’ll get special access to our studio space outside of your allocated contact hours, so there are no restrictions on your creative flow.
Wellbeing and student support
The creative industry is notoriously challenging. It requires a resilient mindset, a big, bold vision, and a whole lot of gumption. We’ll develop you as a person and as a performer, with a focus on soft as well as hard skills and you’ll have access to a range of wellbeing and student support services.
You’ll have access to daily, bespoke sessions focusing on mindfulness, strategic intervention and meditation, and will leave ICTheatre with the toolkit you’ll need to not only survive but thrive in your chosen career.
Join a unique family
For us, mindfulness means being consciously aware of every element of your training experience. From the quality of your performing arts degree and diploma training, to your career prospects, to your health and wellbeing. We celebrate you as an individual, and you’ll be part of an environment that is welcoming and nurturing, as well as creatively vibrant. At ICTheatre, you’ll make friends and build connections for life.
Our unique program includes topics not generally seen on a performing arts training curriculum, including physical fitness, mindfulness and well-being, professional nutrition advice, regular meditation and life coaching.
