Industry Partners

Brighton is a hub for creativity and ICTheatre is part of its vibrant artistic community. We are associated with a number of institutions throughout the city. This gives us the opportunity to expand the learning experience for our students, enabling them to participate in a greater creative endeavour that extends beyond our institute.

The result is that we can share ideas, collaborate in projects and gain a greater understanding of current thinking, preparing our students to enter the profession and developing their ability to work with independence, imagination and confidence.

Our partners…

Theatre Royal Brighton

Theatre Royal Brighton has hosted classes at ICTheatre and it has been a really productive experience for the students to be able to work on the stage there, to understand how their voices read in a large auditorium. They have also had sessions to see how a theatre works in terms of lighting and staging and to gain a greater awareness of all the backstage roles that are necessary to mount a production.

As one of 46 Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) venues, the Theatre Royal  showcases the best West End touring productions from the UK every year. ATG is amongst the most prolific theatre producers in the world, with co-productions across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Brighton Fringe

Our association with The Brighton Fringe Festival is really exciting. Our students have access to a huge range of artistic expression, music, art, dance, and theatre, as the city is flooded with companies and artists for a month every year. As part of the Fringe 2018 our students collaborated with The Warren to put on a production; a piece loosely based on the Frankenstein story involving the entire year in an exploration of the parent child relationship within the current social climate.

Screen and Film School

Screen and Film Film School has provided our students with the opportunity to develop their skills in front of the camera as they have collaborated with film makers studying there, to put together a series of short films. Not only does this provide further experience in screen acting, but it also means that our students get to work with people studying in another area of the industry, sharing ideas and making connections.

BIMM Institute

ICTheatre is closely associated with BIMM Institute This obviously has huge advantages. Again this allows our students to meet people studying in other fields, but it also gives them access to a range of musicians and bands, providing loads of opportunities to collaborate with them musically.

True Story

True Story is an exciting theatre company based in Brighton, producing work that is innovative and visually stimulating. The Artistic Director, Gary Sefton, is also our Head of Acting. Last Christmas he employed 5 students in his production of The Christmas Carol, which received five star reviews. This was an opportunity for students to work alongside professional actors with all the discipline and rigour that that requires. This Autumn he is directing a reworking of Dracula, which promises to both thrill and chill its audience. Again students will be involved, and those who have technical interests will be invited to come in and learn more about lighting and stage management.

It is incredibly important to us that our students are part of a wider community. The possibilities to deepen learning and to expand knowledge and experience that come through our associations with other institutions and practitioners throughout the city, are a vital part of what it means to study at ICTheatre.
