IQ Student Accommodation in Manchester

22 June, 2021

Searching for the perfect place to live while you study at ICTheatre Manchester? Look no further than iQ Student Accommodation. Starting at university can present you with all sorts of new challenges and experiences, and moving out plays a big part in this. To help with this transition, ICTheatre has teamed up with iQ Student Accommodation company to ensure you can find yourself a comfortable and welcoming home from home.

iQ has been a part of the student accommodation industry for 13 years, with 68 campuses situated near universities in 28 towns and cities across the UK. Housing 29,000 students each year, you can trust iQ to provide you with a good service that guarantees to make your transition to university life easier and more enjoyable.

iQ runs several services to aid many different students, including cash-back offers on their rooms – a massive draw for those working with a budget – and flexible cancellation policies for when things don’t go to plan. What’s not to love?

In 2019 iQ launched the ‘Embrace. Explore. Do’ campaign in partnership with SHOUT and Relate to propel their wellbeing support for residents. SHOUT is a free 24/7 mental health support text line that offers students aid when they may be feeling stressed, anxious, lonely or depressed, or dealing with issues with relationships or bullying.

The service is available anytime, anywhere, by anyone using a UK mobile service*. Relate is the UK’s largest relationship support charity, and iQ collaborated with them to release a report to raise understanding around the impact of loneliness on students, and how to help them feel connected.

With this campaign at its heart, iQ strives to make student accommodation that is not only physically sound to live in but can also become your safe space while studying, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in your drama school experience. If you’re worried about the moving experience, you can find loads of useful tips on iQ’s website here.

Now I know what you’re thinking – iQ sounds amazing, what are the facilities like? And the answer is, pretty fantastic! For ICTheatre students, iQ recommend their Wilmslow Park or Daisy Bank sites, as both are only a short distance from the Dancehouse building – whether you want to use public transport or get some fresh air by walking.

Daisy Bank is of great value with excellent on-site amenities, and is a short bus ride into Manchester, whereas Wilmslow Park has lots of social spaces and is located on Oxford Road, making it really accessible to get into the city.

The properties all have various communal spaces that are shared with the whole building, such as onsite gyms, laundry rooms, study spaces and BBQ areas (depending on which building you’re in of course) making it easier for you to meet people outside of your shared living space and university, so you can make more friends to spend downtime with. You are always welcome to bring friends back to your room as long as you respect your neighbours with noise levels, meaning it’s easier than ever to develop friendships further than in the classroom – a key factor of drama school life!

Now for the important details that we all need to know – iQ’s prices vary depending on the size of the room you choose, so there’s something for every budget. All bills are covered by your room price, including Wifi, meaning there are no worries about living away from home! All iQ buildings have staff onsite 24/7, to offer support when it’s needed, and help maintain the security of the building.

They’re there for your peace of mind that the building is secure, and to help you with anything from parcel collecting to making sure you don’t get locked out. iQ also has a handy app for all residents to use, which makes it easy to manage things such as maintenance and parcel requests, checking the laundry room and managing your monthly payments. So everything you need is organised and handled properly, to make your stay as smooth as possible.

Jess Gardiner is one of our second year Contemporary Musical Theatre students, and she spent her first year in the iQ Daisy Bank building.

“IQ Daisy Bank was so welcoming for my first year. Situated in a nice, quiet corner of the busy and vibrant city of Manchester, it was always comforting to come home after a long, intense day of training, plus they have so many upcoming social and freshers events!

“For central city accommodation, the communal kitchen was really spacious and a great hub to hang out with friends and flatmates – plus all the rooms have en-suites. I stayed in a Bronze room this year and loved it so much, and amazingly you can get a discount with ICTheatre – always helps with a student budget!

The staff are so welcoming and helpful and can arrange for you to move into a flat with people from your uni too. With an approximately 35 minute walk to the Dancehouse, you pass parks and the gorgeous architecture of Manchester on the way- and it’s super handy to pop into the local Lidl on the way home for your food shop! But there is a bus station nearby and a car park on-site for those that prefer other transport. I would recommend iQ Daisy Banks for any future students!”

Sounds pretty great right? I know I wouldn’t mind moving in! If you’re thinking iQ sounds like a place you want to move in, you can check out what rooms they have available here. Any questions?
